West Meets East!

Educational Assembly Program for grades K - 12


At J.M. Oriental Arts, our mission is to promote cross-cultural awareness and fellowship between people in the Chinese and American cultures through the arts and education. Our West Meets East Assembly is a perfect way to introduce young American minds to the arts and cultural studies of China!

Magically transport the students of the "West" to the culture of the "East" as they travel with the music and motion of Musician, Presenter & Educator Qiu Min Ji, in an interactive cultural learning event!





Learning the Lion Dance Steps

As Ms. Ji presents the intriguing colors, sounds and sights of her native China, the students will be enchanted as they learn and experience:

Chinese Music: Traditional Instruments, such as the Erhu and Ran, played by Ms. Ji.

Chinese Language: Students see, learn, and practice Chinese words.

Traditional Costumes: Students and adults don colorful and ornate costumes.

Cultural Dances: Students participate in Lion (Dragon) and Ribbon Dances.

Ms. Ji has many years experience in the Chinese and American Classroom, and is a certified bilingual teacher in Illinois. The West Meets East Assembly program effectively adapts to different levels of learning, and can be tailor designed to meet a school's specific needs.

In addition, the CACBC West Meets East Assembly Program provides Pre & Post educational materials for teachers to introduce and wrap up the program for their students.
