CACBC’s musicians
perform ancient melodies and modern compositions on the Erhu, Pipa,
Zeng, and other exotic Chinese musical instruments.

Our performing company is made up of well-known
Chinese-American professional musicians and music educators who
emigrated from China.
CACBC’s numerous concerts and cultural program
performances include the University of Chicago Folk Festival,
Chicago Art Institute, Chicago Field Museum, Milwaukee Symphony
Orchestra Concerts, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra Concerts. Their
school performances have been heard by more than a million American
children.

Kerry Leung began
his musical instrument studies at the age of twelve in China.
Concentrating on the bamboo flute, he made his first solo
performance with the folk orchestra at the age of 15 in Guangzhou,
China. He
has been actively involved with performing music and the promotion
of Chinese music to the west since 1981. Kerry’s musical
instrument talents include: bamboo flute, pipa, erhu, ruan, and
liuqin.

Peng Chang Yuan has played the Yangqin professionally for over
twenty years. He immigrated to the U. S. in 1995. His instrument,
the Yangqin, is also called the Chinese dulcimer. Its beautiful sounds
are surprisingly familiar to the American audience. Mr. Yuan performs not only with Chinese music groups, but also as a soloist.
Qiu Min Ji
is a well-known Chinese musician and a
professional educator. Her concert presentations on the Erhu, or
Chinese violin, have won her many honors and awards including the
National Endowment for the Arts Award, Illinois Arts Council
Apprenticeship Award, and the Illinois Arts Council Fellowship Award.

Gao Hong
was a well-known professional Pipa player in
China, before she immigrated to the United States. She has given
numerous concert tours in China, Japan and throughout the U.S. Her
musicianship has brought her many honors including the International
Art Cup Award in Beijing, the Jenome Foundation Travel and Study Award, the Mcknight
Fellowship for Performing Musicians, and the Minnesota Artist
Assistance Fellowship.
Zhang Guo Wang
is a Chinese wind instrument specialist. He
plays a variety of traditional wind instruments. He is a master of
the Dizi, or Bamboo flute, the oldest instrument in China, dating
back over 8000 years. He also plays the Pipe flute, the mouth flute,
raft flute, clay flute, and the Bawu. Mr. Wang played
professionally with the prestigious Central China Music Ensemble
before he immigrated to the U. S.
Our
performers are available for booking as ensembles or as soloists for
cultural festivals, corporate events, lecture demonstrations, and
workshops for schools and universities.
